Living our core values

On more than one occasion, readers have asked what makes Credit Union Times different. Besides the obvious, we tell them that very simply it's our core values. We live by them in every issue we publish and in all of our business relationships, too. At the heart of our editorial core values is a steadfast commitment to provide readers with news reporting that is completely unbiased, balanced, objective, accurate, timely, credible, and thorough. We believe that news is news no matter who or what is at its focal point. National and state-level leaders, advertisers, credit union groups large and small, individual credit unions, the competition, politicians, regulators, advocacy groups, all are treated the same on our news pages. Our business core values are also an important part of who we are. In simplest terms, these include integrity, honesty, fairness, professionalism, and respect. In subscriptions and ad space, we give good value for a fair price. We expect those from whom we buy products and services to do the same. After 12 years in business, Credit Union Times remains unchallenged as the only credit union publication completely free of any real or potential conflicts of interest, a subject that is much in the news lately. We are beholden to no outside ownership or special interests. It is this complete independence, unique among all credit union publications, that enables Credit Union Times to live its core values day in and day out.
