ATLANTA – Returned check orders are burdensome to credit union members who cannot use their new checks, as well as to credit unions who have to identify and correct the reasons the checks are returned. John H. Harland Company's recently introduced ExpertMailT is designed to reduce that time. ExpertMailT identifies the cause for returned check orders, addresses it and helps credit unions maintain member satisfaction, all without direct involvement from the financial institution. With ExpertMailT, the post office returns undeliverable check orders directly to Harland where they are destroyed. The consumer's record is updated to reflect the return status, and they are notified by First Class letter that their check order was returned. The consumer can then contact their financial to place a corrected order. Financial institutions also receive monthly reports that include details on the number of boxes returned and specific account information.
