ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Attention credit union shoppers, discounts are now available at cavion.com's Member Emporium. Member Emporium, cavion.com's e-commerce unit, has officially launched its discount shopping component for CU members. Earlier this year Member Emporium did a partial launch of the service, which is part of the Member Emporium portal. Cavion.com partnered with Myway.com in February of last year to start offering a personal portal product. The portal allows credit unions to personalize the portal for their members with links, targeted advertising, local merchants local content, customized new-and now the shopping component. "Shoppers are finding bargains, with discounts from 3 to 50% from merchants offering links through Member Emporium,'' said Dan Dudley, vice president of e-commerce at cavion.com. "The e-merchants offer credit union members deals like $10 off a purchase from Barnesandnoble.com to 40-50% off for brand-name perfumes at Parfums Broussard. More than 100 merchants offer discounts and deals for credit union members in the Member Emporium Discount Marketplace including: AutoAccessory.com, ebags, J. Crew, and OfficeMax, Omaha Steaks, Mrs. Fields, Sharper Image, SuperMarkets Online and ToysRUs,'' he said. Like other online shopping components-CUShopper's for example-the Member Emporium shopping piece can be branded for each participating credit union. While a number of CU portals are offering discount shopping, Member Emporium is one of just a handful of portals that includes an online brokerage component. Member Emporium's online investing solutions is powered by Stockwalk.com, the provider of sharebuilder.com, a dollar cost averaging investment program. "While the Member Emporium financial portal is free to credit unions and their members, Member Emporium expects to derive revenues in the form of commissions and revenue sharing from participating merchants, and is an important piece of the overall Cavion business model,'' said Dave Selina, President/CEO of cavion.com. Member Emporium is also offering ISP service, a product more CUs are looking at offering for marketing benefits. The portal blocks competitor advertisement. In other cavion.com news, the company has announced an agreement with the Minnesota Item Processing Corporation (MnIPC) to Web-enable its share draft processing operation. Minnesota Item Processing Corporation is a check processing company owned by 20 Minnesota credit unions and managed by the Minnesota Credit Union Network. Cavion.com's Internet-based eDraft and share draft image retrieval software will be used by 76 credit unions in Minnesota, which generate approximately 3 million share drafts per month. -pgentile@cutimes.com
