Baxter CU opens Spanish Service Center for Spanish-speaking members

VERNON HILLS, Ill. - Almost 20 years after opening its doors to provide financial services to the employees and families of Baxter Healthcare Corp. and expanding its operations to include 16 branches, six of which are in Puerto Rico, Baxter Credit Union has opened its Spanish Service Center to serve the credit union's Spanish speaking members. More than 20,000 of the $486 million CU's 100,000 members speak Spanish exclusively or are bilingual. While most of them reside in Puerto Rico, many also live in Chicago and in Southern California. "We've always had a Spanish speaking employee working in our call center," explained BCU spokesperson E.J. Donaghey. "Our objective through our new service center is to provide our Spanish speaking members the same level of quality service we provide our non-Spanish speaking members." The service center will be staffed by: Rosa Rogers, Alma Matus, Hilda Gallardo, Raymundo Acosta, Antonio Navaro, and BCU Manager Astrid Perez. Members calling in to the center will be able to apply for loans-except mortgages-access their account information and talk with a Spanish-speaking member services representative. It will operate Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (CST) and work in conjunction with BCU's Puerto Rico branch network to provide personalized service. -
