Credit Union Times Vol. 1, No. 1
CU Times vol11 no10 030800 Looking back is always insightful - it shows where you've come from, what you've accomplished and often how little things have changed. Looking at the headlines that ran in the first issue of Credit Union Times-March 26, 1990 (it was 16 pages)-is just as insightful about the history of credit unions. We thought we'd share some of those headlines with you:
* ABA proposes three-part tax test for CUs - the American Bankers Association had a three-part test it suggested credit union pass to qualify for tax exemption.
* NAFCU: In the eye of the hurricane - 1990 started out to be a relatively quiet year for federal credit unions. By the middle of the year, NCUA was offering details of its overhauled operating fee schedule.
* AARP CU products `under review' - The credit union's elimination of its savings account product, including CDs and a Visa card hinted at the closing of the CU for AARP members.
* Marketer named CEO at Pt. Loma - Was the naming of Joseph Schroeder, former chairman of the marketing Association of California as the new president/CEO of Pt. Loma FCU a precursor to a trend among credit unions?
