New voting poll tackles NCUA's low-income survey

Ever since the NCUA board announced that it would be sending out a one-time, voluntary low-income member survey, there's been a debate within the industry over whether or not credit unions should complete it.

The members of the CUNA board, who represent both state and federal chartered CUs, have agreed to fill out the survey, while NAFCU doesn't think gauging how well CUs serve low-income members falls under the purview of NCUA. NASCUS has also asked regulators to urge state-chartered CUs not to complete the survey.

What do you think? Credit Union Times latest Voting Poll explores this issue by asking "Does your credit union plan on completing NCUA's one-time, voluntary survey on service to low-income members?"

Readers can vote in this poll at the Credit Union Times Web site found at www.cutimes.com. This poll question will be open for voting up until March, 2, 2000. Readers can track the poll results as votes come in to see if they fall within the minority or majority on this issue.
