NCUA staff pose with America250 flag anniversary in celebration of America's 250th anniversary.

NCUA marked the upcoming 250th anniversary of American independence last week by raising the America250 commemorative flag at its headquarters in Alexandria, Va.

Chairman Kyle Hauptman led the ceremony, joined by agency leadership and staff, who gathered to recognize the nation's approaching semiquincentennial and the principles that have shaped the United States since 1776. Following the flag raising, employees joined Hauptman in displaying a commemorative America250 flag modeled after the original 13-star American flag.

"Raising the America250 flag is an opportunity to recognize our nation's remarkable journey and the values that continue to unite us," Hauptman said. "As we approach America's 250th birthday, let's remember the many sacrifices and achievements of those who came before us to make this great American experiment a reality. We are proud to celebrate America250 and serve this great nation."

The America250 initiative is a nationwide commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026.

NCUA said the America250 flag will remain on display at its Central Office through Dec. 31 as the agency joins other federal agencies, states and communities in celebrating the nation's historic milestone.
