Long Island's Teachers Federal Credit Union has completed a renovation of its Hauppauge headquarters, while The County Federal Credit Union in Maine has bought property for a new headquarters.
Teachers ($9.9 billion in assets, 478,252 members) announced the completion in a May 19 news release that said the project was "designed to support its continued growth and deepen its commitment to employees."
The newly transformed space reflected Teachers' belief that investing in employees is fundamental to delivering exceptional service to its members. The renovation introduces modern collaborative environments, enhanced security and technology infrastructure, and new amenities designed to support employee well-being, connection and innovation.
"At Teachers, we believe that when we invest in our people, we strengthen everything we do," President/CEO Brad Calhoun said. "This transformation is more than a workplace enhancement; it reflects our growth mindset, our commitment to innovation and our focus on creating an environment where employees thrive."

The credit union said the renovation was a milestone that marks the next phase in its multi-year transformation. With an open charter that enables membership expansion nationwide, the credit union has expanded its reach by opening branches in Florida and investing in technology.
The redesigned headquarters features a variety of new spaces, including:
- Collaborative work areas designed to foster teamwork, creativity and cross-functional engagement;
- A dedicated Innovation Lab to accelerate new ideas, technology development and forward-thinking solutions;
- A fitness center supporting employee health and wellness;
- A game room and social spaces designed to encourage connection and team building; and
- Enhanced security systems and access controls, along with video surveillance and emergency response capabilities that support safety, business continuity and operational controls.
"As we continue to grow membership across the United States, it essential that our workplace evolves alongside our organization," Calhoun said. "The investment in our headquarters ensures our team has the tools, spaces and support they need to succeed today while positioning us strongly for the future."

Meanwhile, The County Federal Credit Union of Presque Isle, Maine ($501.8 million in assets, 31,923 members) said it is expanding in its Aroostook County home in northeast Maine near the Canadian border.
The credit union announced April 30 that it had paid $2 million for a former restaurant at 150 Maysville Street in Presque Isle.
It said it plans to develop the site into 23,000 square feet of flexible workspace designed to consolidate operational staff currently spread across multiple locations. The site is expected to house about 50 employees when it opens next summer, expanding to as many as 70 over the coming years as member needs grow.
"This expansion is about building capacity to serve members statewide while investing in the community that has shaped us for nearly 70 years," President/CEO Ryan Ellsworth said. "By transforming a well-known local property into a modern operations center, we're creating a high-quality workplace for our employees, strengthening our service to members and fueling sustainable growth that begins right here in Aroostook County."

County FCU also has branches 160 miles south in the larger city of Bangor, Maine, where several commercial properties were also available. But the credit union decided to build where it began.
"As The County FCU advances its statewide footprint, we are equally committed to investing here in The County," Ellsworth said. "Our roots are in Aroostook County, and this project is a tangible expression of that commitment."
County FCU had nine branches and other offices Dec. 31, unchanged from a year earlier.
