Less than a month into his tenure as president/CEO, Michael Massey unveiled a new name for Fort Worth Community Credit Union: Worth Credit Union.

Massey succeeded Diane Dorsey, who will retire on June 5 after nearly 30 years of service at the Bedford, Texas-based credit union where she held several executive positions before being appointed CEO in January 2021.

Massey joined Worth from the $5.1 billion Texas Dow Employees Credit Union (TDECU) in Houston, where he served as president of TDECU Holdings and chief audit officer. He also worked as SVP of digital experience and growth for the $4.3 billion Georgia's Own Credit Union in Atlanta, and as vice president of lending services and analytics at the $9.1 billion Delta Community Credit Union, also based in Atlanta, according to his LinkedIn profile.

"Throughout his career, Mr. Massey has demonstrated a commitment to innovation, operational excellence and member-focused solutions – core values that align closely with Worth CU's mission," the credit union said. He began his CEO tenure on April 6.

On May 1, Massey introduced the credit union's new name.

"Our new name better represents who we are today and where we're headed," Massey said. "As we continue to grow, it's important that our brand reflects our inclusive membership, strong community roots, and our dedication to helping our members thrive financially."

Chartered in 1940 as Fort Worth Federal Employees Federal Credit Union to serve government employees and their families, the credit union changed its name to Fort Worth Community Credit Union in 2001, after transitioning from a federal to a state charter, and expanding membership eligibility to anyone who lives, works or attends school in Tarrant, Denton, Parker and Johnson counties.

Worth's 186 employees operate 10 locations and serve more than 74,000 members.
