The Indianapolis-based Harvester Financial Credit Union and Energy Plus Credit Union said they plan to complete their merger by July 1 and rebrand as Origins Credit Union.

The consolidation was approved by the memberships of both credit unions in March.

The combined organization will manage $127 million in assets with 39 employees who will operate five branches and serve more than 10,000 members across central Indiana.

"The name Origins reflects our shared belief that financial services should be rooted in purpose, people and community," Energy Plus President/CEO Cari Palmer said.

Harvester Financial President/CEO Jason Ford said the consolidation is about honoring where the credit unions came from while positioning members to a stronger future.

Energy Plus was chartered in 1925 to serve employees of Indianapolis Power & Light, as well as Citizens Energy Group and its subsidiaries and their family members. Harvester Financial was chartered in 1954 under the sponsorship of International Harvester, a manufacturer of agricultural and construction equipment, which was renamed Navistar International in 1986.

"Together as Origins Credit Union, we will deliver expanded products, improved technology and long-term stability – without losing the personal relationships our members value most," Ford said.

Once the merger is completed, Ford will serve as CEO and Palmer will serve as president.
