EAST
Calla Flannery, assistant vice president community and business development for the $2.4 billion, Littleton, Mass.-based Workers Credit Union, was one of two people the Institute for Financial Literacy named the 2026 Excellence in Financial Literacy Education (EIFLE) Educator of the Year on April 13. Flannery was recognized for her work promoting financial literacy among students who are neurodiverse. The EIFLE Awards honor organizations that provide exceptional financial literacy education and demonstrate measurable impact through their programs. The Institute for Financial Literacy is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to promote effective financial education and counseling.

MIDWEST
The $3.3 billion, Appleton, Wis.-based Fox Communities Credit Union announced one promotion and one new hire.
Sue Weyers was promoted to assistant vice president of commercial credit, manager. Weyers joined Fox Communities in 2025 as assistant vice president of commercial credit. In her new role, Weyers oversees the Commercial Credit Analyst team, providing strategic guidance in the evaluation of commercial members' creditworthiness and overall financial condition. She is also responsible for analyzing complex financial data to determine credit risk, supporting sound lending decisions and ensuring the delivery of accurate, high‑quality credit recommendations.

Melissa Moody was hired as vice president, commercial relationship manager. In her new role, she will oversee the organization's largest and most complex commercial banking relationships while supporting continued growth and strong asset quality. Moody will focus on developing and managing a portfolio of commercial relationships with an emphasis on disciplined underwriting, proactive monitoring and relationship-driven growth. She will also play a visible role representing Fox Communities through active community engagement and local involvement. Moody brings nearly a decade of experience in commercial banking leadership to the position, having previously served as SVP and portfolio manager at Associated Bank.

SOUTH
The $3.1 billion, Tampa, Fla.-based GTE Financial announced two promotions.
Mike Bernas was promoted to vice president, commercial credit manager. Bernas has nearly two decades of commercial banking experience and holds a master's degree in international business from the University of Florida. Over the course of his career, he has held roles in sales, special assets, portfolio management and credit leadership across multiple financial institutions. In his new role, Bernas oversees commercial credit review process for all business lending at GTE Financial, managing a team of underwriters who evaluate opportunities ranging from small business credit cards to multimillion-dollar commercial real estate loans. He also leads ongoing portfolio monitoring, collaborates with sales teams on credit structures and serves as a key liaison with external regulators.

Bibiana Gomez was promoted to vice president of business banking and retail operations. Gomez has more than 20 years of banking leadership experience, including 21 years at Regions Bank, where she held roles across retail banking, commercial banking, operations, learning and development and corporate strategy. In her new position, she leads business banking operations, GTE Title and branch banking operations. She also focuses on strengthening operational effectiveness, supporting frontline teams and ensuring a consistent, high-quality member experience, while advancing services for small businesses throughout the region.

TRADES
The National Credit Union Foundation announced the election of Fred Robinson, president/CEO of the Tennessee and Mississippi Credit Union Association, to its Board of Directors. Robinson was recommended by the Foundation's Nominations Committee to fill a vacant League president seat on the Board, which was previously held by Juan Fernandez. Following his acceptance, the full Board of Directors voted to confirm his appointment. Robinson also serves on the America's Credit Unions Board of Directors.

VENDORS
The Santa Clara, Calif.-based payments technology company PayNearMe hired Niall Hayes as chief development officer, EVP of engineering. In his new role, he will lead the company's engineering organization and drive the platform's ongoing evolution, with a focus on scaling its payments infrastructure, strengthening execution and advancing AI-powered innovation. He will also oversee software development, infrastructure, data, security and enterprise implementations, and guide the continued evolution of PayNearMe's payments platform. Hayes brings more than 25 years of experience leading engineering, product and operations teams. Most recently, he served as SVP of engineering at Twilio, where he led its Communications platform across Messaging, Email, Voice and Video, supporting trillions of emails and hundreds of billions of messages annually. Prior to Twilio, he was COO at Pantheon, overseeing engineering, customer success and operations, and previously held leadership roles at KIXEYE, Zynga and Electronic Arts.
