Maria Murphy, assistant vice president of commercial operations for the $5.2 billion, Philadelphia-based American Heritage Credit Union, was awarded the Financial Award of Excellence from the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual DisAbility Services. Murphy's award comes from her commitment to American Heritage's partnership with Special People In the Northeast (SPIN). The award is part of the "My City, My Place" Awards, which recognize individuals who are committed to supporting people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism to have control over their own lives. SPIN, the organization that nominated Murphy, provides people-first services and supports for children and adults with intellectual, developmental and autism spectrum disabilities. Murphy will be presented with her award on May 15 during the 34th Annual Brighter Futures Awards.

The $7.2 billion, North Chesterfield, Va.-based Virginia Credit Union announced four board elections during its 97th Annual Meeting on April 8.

Kenneth E. Ampy was elected to a three-year term. Ampy is co-founder and CEO of Astyra Corporation, a Richmond, Va.-based staffing and consulting firm.

John T. Grier was elected to a three-year term. Grier is a Charter Financial Analyst and managing director of public markets for the Virginia Retirement System.

Paul D. Thompson was elected to a three-year term. Thompson is vice president of Mid-Atlantic distribution for MoboTrex, a company specializing in intelligent transportation systems and smart mobility solutions.

Eric B. Tolbert was elected to a three-year term. Tolbert is a Certified Public Accountant and EVP/CFO of Value Added HVAC Distributors, a wholesale distributor of HVAC equipment.

The $1.1 billion, Lansing, Mich.-based LAFCU promoted Jamie Jones branch manager of the credit union's contact center. She most recently served as assistant branch manager. In her new role, Jones oversees the day-to-day operations of LAFCU's contact center, which serves as a primary access point for members seeking assistance with accounts, transactions, loans and digital banking. She is responsible for coaching and developing frontline staff, managing call volume and staffing levels, improving response times and ensuring consistent service quality across member interactions. In addition, her leadership focuses on balancing operational efficiency with a strong member experience, while reinforcing service standards, transparency and clear communication within the team. Jones joined LAFCU as a senior member service representative in 2018 and advanced to assistant branch manager of the contact center in 2023, after previously serving as a member service representative at another Lansing-based credit union. Her professional background also includes roles in customer service, office management and paraprofessional support across a range of organizational and school-based settings.

Jackie Buchanan, president/CEO of the $6.2 billion, Auburn Hills, Mich.-based Genisys Credit Union, was inducted into the Credit Union House Hall of Leaders, a national honor recognizing leaders who have made significant contributions to the credit union movement and to the members and communities they serve. Buchanan was one of 18 credit union leaders from across the country recognized during a ceremony in Washington D.C. during America's Credit Unions' GAC in March. She assumed the role of CEO at Genisys in 2010 and is a 30-year veteran of the industry. She also serves on the boards of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis and Velera, and is the board chair of CU Solutions Group. Additionally, she is the former board chair and current board member of Lighthouse MI, a nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness.

The Dallas, Texas-based consulting firm On the Mark Strategies, which guides financial organizations in the areas of strategy, branding, marketing and training, hired Deleanna Allen as an account executive. She brings over a decade of experience driving growth, strengthening brands and enhancing member experience within the credit union industry. She most recently served as marketing manager at the $452 million, Romulus, Mich.-based Public Service Credit Union, where she advanced through a range of roles after beginning her career at age 19. In her new role, she will serve monthly marketing partners by providing both strategic guidance and tactical coordination of marketing asset delivery.
