White Eagle Credit Union of central Kansas told CU Times Thursday it is investing $2.3 million to build a 3,000-square-foot branch that it expects to open in November in Andover on the east side of Wichita.
President/CEO Eric Brown said it will be the fourth location for the credit union based in Augusta, Kan., 12 miles east of Wichita ($186.4 million, 16,204 members as of Dec. 31). Like the other three, the new branch will serve a suburb of Wichita.

"We've had tremendous capital growth over the past few years, and we thought we would reinvest that into another community we can serve," Brown said.

Brown joined White Eagle as CEO four years ago. Its assets have grown from $141 million at the end of 2021 to $186 million at the end of last year.
Also, HFS Credit Union of Hilo, Hawaii ($1.1 billion, 55,513 members) announced Wednesday it has completed construction of its new administrative building by its headquarters and existing branch on Kino'ole Street in Hilo on the Island of Hawai'i ("The Big Island").
President/CEO Nathan Abe said relocating administrative operations to the new facility will enable HFS to begin renovating the original branch.

"The completion of our new administrative building is a major milestone in our credit union's history," Abe said. "It provides us with the infrastructure needed to innovate and expand our financial services for our membership now and into the future."
HFS had six branches and other offices Sept. 30, unchanged from a year earlier.
In other branch news:
- BECU of Tukwila, Wash., in the Seattle area ($29.4 billion, 1.6 million members) opened a new branch in February on Bainbridge Island, 10 miles west of Seattle and reached by a 40-minute ferry ride across Elliott Bay. The new, 1,300-square-foot office serves the credit union's nearly 2,000 members in the area. This location is BECU's first on Bainbridge Island and the community's only credit union branch. BECU had 69 branches Sept. 30, six more than a year earlier.
- Numerica Credit Union of Spokane Valley, Wash. ($4.2 billion, 177,451 members) announced Feb. 2 it plans to open its 24th branch this fall in Moses Lake, Wash., 100 miles southwest of Spokane. The 4,400-square-foot branch follows branch openings last year in Liberty Lake and the Sandpoint area. Numerica had 25 branches Sept. 30, two more than a year earlier.
- North Island Credit Union, a division of California Federal Credit Union of Los Angeles ($5.4 billion, 202,633) opened a branch in January in Murrieta, about halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego. North Island President/CEO Steve O'Connell said the Temecula-Murrieta branch serves Southwest Riverside County and North San Diego County. "Opening this branch is about more than expanding our footprint – it's about building meaningful connections in a community we're proud to serve," O'Connell said. California FCU had 26 branches Sept. 30, unchanged from a year earlier.
- Members 1st Federal Credit Union of Harrisburg, Pa. ($8.3 billion, 625,928 members) opened a branch Jan. 12 inside the Giant Food Store in Lewisburg, Pa., 60 miles north of Harrisburg. Members 1st had 60 branches Sept. 30, one more than a year earlier.
- Sidney Federal Credit Union of Sidney, N.Y. ($1.2 billion, 75,308 members) announced in January that it plans to open a micro-branch in an historic building in downtown Syracuse, 80 miles north of Sidney It is both the credit union's first micro-branch and its first office in the city.
"Being part of downtown Syracuse, especially in a building with such historic significance, allows us to meet people where they are and be an active participant in the city's continued growth," President/CEO Jim Reynolds said.
Sidney had 13 branches Sept. 30, one more than a year earlier.
