A representative from America's Credit Unions will testify before the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions on March 5 as lawmakers examine growing financial fraud threats facing consumers and financial institutions.

The hearing, titled "Fighting Fraud on the Front Lines: Challenges and Opportunities for Financial Institutions," will be held as fraud costs Americans billions of dollars annually and coincides with the industry's Governmental Affairs Conference, when thousands of credit union advocates meet with policymakers on Capitol Hill.

The association said its testimony will describe how credit unions detect and prevent fraud and will recommend legislative and regulatory changes to help institutions respond to increasingly sophisticated scams and data security threats. The group has long urged regulators to provide clearer guidance and modernized rules to strengthen fraud prevention across the financial system.
