The Plymouth, Mich.-based orsa credit union, formerly Community Financial Credit Union, announced two long-term community partnerships: A 25-year, $5 million commitment to Plymouth-Canton Community Schools and a 25-year, $20 million naming-rights partnership with the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts.

Leaders from orsa and Plymouth-Canton Community Schools gathered this week to sign the agreement for a 25-year partnership that includes a $5 million commitment from orsa to support the creation and long-term sustainability of the Orsa Hub, a launchpad where students are encouraged to explore, experiment and build confidence about future opportunities.

"With this partnership, this building is more than a state-of-the-art facility," Monica L. Merritt, P-CCS superintendent, said. "The Orsa Hub represents what is possible when private organizations and public education come together around a common purpose: Expanding access, unlocking potential and building pathways for every learner to thrive."

Located at Canton High School in Canton Township, Mich., the Orsa Hub will allow students the opportunity to engage in robotics, artificial intelligence, digital storytelling, financial wellness, sustainability projects and design experiences within flexible, collaborative spaces.

"This partnership is a living expression of what we believe about people and possibility," Tansley Stearns, president/CEO of orsa, said. "For 75 years, weʼve been rooted in this community, walking alongside Michiganders as they pursue their impossible dreams. As the proud daughter of a public school educator, witnessing the power of partnerships and collaborations furthering the education of our children provides a blueprint to be replicated across our state. The Orsa Hub ensures students and educators have the tools, trust and support to lead boldly, today and for decades to come. This hub also bridges our rich history with schools around the state as we shape the future of financial wellness, co-creating with young adults."

The partnership includes initiatives supporting girls in STEM through scholarships, robotics, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, mental health, staff benefits and student-centered programming. These efforts will welcome students, educators and community members into the hub, expanding learning beyond traditional classrooms.

P-CCS anticipates a soft launch and opening phase beginning in spring 2026, followed by district-wide implementation in fall 2026.
The credit union will also be partnering with Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts in Detroit. The $20 million partnership includes naming rights to the Music Hall Expansion, along with support for programming, education and community engagement. The announcement came as the Music Hall approaches its 100th anniversary.

The 25-year partnership will designate the new building as orsa Music Hall. Groundbreaking on the new building is planned for 2026. The investment supports both the physical expansion of the music hall and a range of artistic, educational and community-focused initiatives designed to serve artists, students, families and audiences.

"We are continually moved by the power of the arts to ignite impossible dreams, and that same spirit drew us to this partnership," Stearns said. "As we step forward under our new name, orsa, this 25-year commitment reflects who we have always been, a cooperative that shows up for communities and invests in what helps people thrive."

To celebrate the launch of orsa Music Hall, orsa will also introduce a limited-edition debit card design inspired by the Music Hall. In addition, orsa members will receive exclusive access opportunities at the Music Hall, including VIP seating, early show announcements and private events. Music Hall audiences will also be invited to join orsa.

Community Financial recently changed its name to orsa credit union. The intention behind the name change was to allow the credit union to be more recognizable, it said, and the change coincided with the credit union's 75-year anniversary. orsa credit union has more than 340 employees and $1.5 billion in assets.
