First New York Federal Credit Union in Albany named Vik Muktavaram as its incoming president/CEO. Muktavaram, the ninth leader in the credit union’s 88-year history, will succeed current president/CEO Lucy Halstead, who is retiring.

At present, Muktavaram serves as the EVP and CFO at Sunmark Credit Union. He joined Sunmark as chief risk officer in 2022 and was named interim CFO in 2024. Muktavaram earned an MBA from Columbia Business School, a master’s degree in computer science from Oklahoma State University and a bachelor’s in chemical engineering from Osmania University.

“Vik’s range of experience and commitment to the credit union movement stood out during our search process,” Brian Krawiecki, chair of First New York’s board of directors, said in a prepared statement. “First New York has a great team, and we are excited to bring Vik on board as their new leader.”

First New York Federal Credit Union was founded in 1937. Today it has more than $500 million in assets and serves more 38,000 members.

CHROME Federal Credit Union, which serves southwestern Pennsylvania, welcomed Broc Sleek as its new president/CEO, effective Feb. 2. Sleek succeeds Robert Flanyak, who is retiring in April.

“Broc brings an exceptional blend of strategic insight, operational experience, and heart for our community. His leadership in fintech and lending, combined with his long-standing connection to CHROME, positions him to guide the credit union into its next era of purpose-driven banking,” Board Chair Robert Greek said in a prepared statement.

Sleek joined CHROME in 2015 as vice president and chief digital officer. For the past eight years, he has served as a volunteer member of CHROME’s board of directors. He returns to CHROME following his role as SVP of Lending Operations at LendKey, a national fintech serving more than 300 credit unions. Sleek earned an MBA from Salisbury University, a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh and a certificate in financial crimes investigation from Utica College.

Founded in 1971 as the Washington Steel Employees’ Federal Credit Union, CHROME has grown from seven founding members into a $218-million institution serving more than 15,600 members.
