Expanding the digital footprint.
CU NextGen, a CUSO providing digital banking, CRM, automation and operational solutions, has acquired Constellation Digital Partners, a collaborative digital banking platform owned by participating credit unions. The acquisition, announced Dec. 31, is aimed at strengthening long-term digital banking support and innovation for credit unions of all sizes.
The deal brought together two organizations rooted in the cooperative financial system and focused on flexibility and member-centric design. With the addition of Constellation, CU NextGen now supports more than 90 credit unions nationwide, offering customizable digital experiences tailored to each institution’s strategy and membership.
Under the agreement, CU NextGen will assume responsibility for Constellation’s digital banking platform and its participating credit unions, ensuring continuity of service while accelerating development and operational support. The platform will be integrated into CU NextGen’s broader ecosystem, including its no-code digital banking solution, Nextly, along with automation, CRM and data tools.
“Constellation was built by credit unions, for credit unions, and that philosophy aligns perfectly with CU NextGen,” Kent Zimmer, CEO of CU NextGen, said. He added the acquisition provides participating credit unions with a stable partner committed to investing in the platform and evolving it without disruption.
Credit unions using the Constellation platform are expected to benefit from expanded customization, a roadmap driven by cooperative needs and smoother platform conversions. James Nastars, CEO of Meritrust Credit Union ($2.1 billion, Wichita, Kan.), said the partnership will help his credit union continue enhancing online and mobile banking experiences for members.
CU NextGen officials said the acquisition reinforces a broader industry trend toward shared innovation models that allow credit unions to compete digitally while maintaining a local identity.
