The $2.5 billion, Tucson, Ariz.-based Hughes Federal Credit Union announced Juan Gonzalez is retiring after 36 years of volunteer service, including as chairman of both the Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee. Over the years, Gonzalez has dedicated his time and expertise across numerous committees, including the Annual Meeting, Asset Liability, Budget, Computer Systems, Cybersecurity, Delinquent Loans, Facilities Planning, Human Resources and Loan Appeals. He is also a decorated U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, and inspired greater credit union involvement in financial literacy initiatives and the annual Roberta Reeves Memorial Scholarship Program. He will be succeeded by newly-elected Board Chairman Fabian Cordova.
EAST

The $1.4 billion, Worcester, Mass.-based Webster First Federal Credit Union promoted Erin Jansky to chief human resources officer. Jansky joined Webster First in October 2024, serving in a role in which she led her team in revitalizing employee benefits and services. Before joining Webster First, she served as the chief employee experience officer at the Worcester Housing Authority for eight years. Her background also includes nine years as a senior compliance specialist and paralegal. She holds an MBA in business administration and management from the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst and actively serves on several local boards throughout Worcester County.
MIDWEST

The $878 million, Midland, Mich.-based Members First Credit Union (M1) promoted Kris Walters to vice president of human resources. Walters has 22 years of HR experience, including 19 years with M1. In her new role, she will oversee strategic HR initiatives, including developing and implementing HR strategies, workforce planning and ensuring regulatory compliance. She will drive process improvement, project execution, and organization-wide alignment to support business goals and ensure resources are used effectively. Walters will also continue to champion programs that enhance M1’s culture and deliver exceptional experiences for employees and members alike. She is a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach and maintains additional professional certifications, including CCUE, CCUFC and SHRM-CP.

LEAGUES
Montana’s Credit Unions announced two appointments to its Board of Directors.
Jason Hagadone, president/CEO of Altana Federal Credit Union ($615 million, Billings, Mont.), was appointed to the board.

Shiloh Smeltzer, CEO of Badlands Federal Credit Union ($38.6 million, Glendive, Mont.), was appointed to the board. In these roles, Hagadone and Smeltzer will help guide the strategic direction of MCU, ensuring ongoing progress in financial well-being for all, community impact and cooperative values across Big Sky Country.

The League of Credit Unions hired Taylor Morison as senior director of governmental affairs for Georgia. Morison brings extensive experience in public policy, legislative affairs and stakeholder engagement. He most recently served as vice president of external affairs for Dan T. Cathy’s Midtown Connector Project, where he led political, civic and corporate engagement strategies and managed stakeholder relations across Georgia. Previously, he served as director of policy and government affairs at the Council for Quality Growth, and earlier as Governor Nathan Deal’s lead fiscal policy analyst for the Departments of Community Affairs and Economic Development.
