The American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL) and America’s Credit Unions (AmCU) announced today that Scott Simpson, AmCU’s new president/CEO and a longtime league leader, has rejoined the AACUL Board, marking a significant moment for the credit union advocacy landscape.
Simpson, who previously served on the board from 2014 to 2021, including two years as chair, returns as state and federal coordination becomes increasingly vital. AACUL serves as the convening arm of the League System, which represents every state credit union league nationwide. Leaders said Simpson’s presence will help strengthen alignment between local priorities and national strategies.
“Coming back to the AACUL Board feels like a family reunion,” Simpson said. “Our system is strongest when we work as one. America’s Credit Unions and AACUL will continue moving forward together to deliver unified advocacy for credit unions nationwide.”
His return comes as AACUL, ACU and industry leaders gather in California for a multi-day joint strategic planning session focused on deepening collaboration across organizations. With credit unions operating in a regulatory environment shaped by both state and federal decisions, Simpson is expected to serve as a key connector between the two.
AACUL President Brad Miller said, “His return strengthens our alignment at a moment when seamless coordination is critical for credit unions to thrive.”
The announcement signaled a renewed commitment to a unified advocacy strategy of "one system, one voice" that is designed to advance credit union priorities nationwide.
