America's Credit Unions sign at GAC on March 3, 2025.

Scott Simpson officially assumed leadership today as president/CEO of America’s Credit Unions, the nation’s leading credit union advocacy organization representing 95% of the industry’s assets and more than 144 million members nationwide.

Simpson, a seasoned industry advocate with more than two decades of experience in credit union leadership, public policy and strategic management, steps into the role following the retirement of longtime leader Jim Nussle.

“The credit union movement is at a pivotal moment in history,” Simpson said. “Credit unions have always stood apart by putting people before profit and that mission is on full display during this government shutdown. Together, we will strengthen our voice in Washington and ensure credit unions remain a trusted source of financial opportunity in every community.”

As its leader, Simpson will oversee strategic priorities including advocacy, tax status protection and member engagement, while leading efforts to modernize the movement’s communications and policy influence.

Simpson’s appointment marks the start of a new chapter for America’s Credit Unions, which was formed in 2023 through the historic merger of CUNA and NAFCU to unify the industry under a single voice.
