The $1.7 billion, Capitola, Calif.-based Bay Federal Credit Union promoted Brooke Morley to SVP, chief lending and product officer. In her expanded role, Morley will lead the strategic vision, strategy and execution for the credit union’s consumer, mortgage, indirect, deposit, card and servicing portfolios. She will also focus on delivering innovative financial products and services while ensuring exceptional member experiences, regulatory compliance and sound risk management practices. In addition, she will oversee product design, lending strategy, portfolio management and service delivery, while working closely with the chief business services officer to align business lending with enterprise-wide credit and product strategies. Morley first joined Bay Federal in 2008 as assistant vice president, lending. After gaining additional leadership experience at other credit unions, she returned in 2021 as vice president, asset management. Since then, she has advanced through several leadership roles, including vice president, deposit and loan services and SVP, chief product officer. Morley is a Leadership Santa Cruz County graduate.
EAST

The $3.1 billion, Virginia Beach, Va.-based Chartway Credit Union hired Jhae Smith as vice president of commercial lending. Smith brings more than two decades of experience in commercial lending, with expertise spanning SBA, commercial real estate (CRE), commercial and industrial (C&I), construction, acquisition and development (A&D) and syndicated lending. In her new role, she will lead Chartway’s commercial and small business lending strategy, overseeing loan production, portfolio performance and risk management. She will also play a key role in expanding Chartway’s presence in the commercial lending space, driving sustainable growth and delivering innovative financial solutions to businesses across the credit union’s footprint. Smith most recently served as SVP and senior commercial business manager at Capital Community Bank. Her leadership experience also includes senior roles at First National Bank of Layton, First Utah Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of the West and Zions Bank. Smith holds a master’s degree in business finance from Colorado State University Global and is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington. Her professional training includes SBA lending certification, formal credit training and leadership development programs.
SOUTH

The $2.9 billion, Tampa, Fla.-based GTE Financial hired Steve Vaughn as vice president of technology integrations. Vaughn brings nearly 30 years of experience in information technology and software development, having most recently served as a senior technology leader at the $2.6 billion Partners Federal Credit Union in Orlando. In his new role, Vaughn will oversee the integration of critical systems and drive improvements in IT service efficiency. His key priorities will include integrating AI and emerging technologies, expanding automation and ensuring that every technology investment advances security, accuracy and convenience for GTE’s more than 200,000 members. Vaughn holds a master of science in management information systems from Auburn University in Auburn, Ala.
The $6.1 billion, Oklahoma City, Okla.-based Tinker Federal Credit Union announced one new hire and two promotions.
Brent Carlow was hired as assistant vice president and branch manager for TFCU’s new Owasso, Okla., branch. In his new role, Carlow will oversee branch operations, guide member service initiatives and connect with the community in the newly-opened branch. Carlow most recently served at a bank in Broken Arrow, Okla. He began his career in financial services in 2005 as a float teller and has since held positions in loan operations, new accounts, mortgage and commercial lending, credit department management, and risk and compliance. His experience spans both banks and credit unions.

Amanda Smith was promoted to assistant vice president and branch manager at TFCU’s Tulsa, Okla., branch. In her new role, she leads operations and works closely with her team to ensure an excellent member experience. Smith has been serving members in the Tulsa area and mentoring branch employees since starting at TFCU in 2017.

Ashley Avanessian was promoted to vice president and regional director of branch operations. In her new role, she oversees branch operations and member service strategies throughout eastern Oklahoma as TFCU continues expanding its statewide presence. Avanessian began her career in financial services in 2013 as a teller and quickly advanced through a variety of frontline and leadership roles. Before joining TFCU in 2019 as assistant vice president and branch manager of the Tulsa branch, she led operations and lending at a small credit union. She is a Certified Credit Union Executive.
