Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with bomb threats made last week targeting the $145 million Community First Federal Credit Union (CFFCU) in Lakeview and Tri County High School in Howard City.

Nathan Beemer, 24, of Howard City was charged last Friday with making a false report of a bomb and one count of malicious use of a telecommunications device, according to the Montcalm County Sheriff’s office in Stanton.

He has been arraigned in a district court and was ordered held in the county’s jail on a $75,000 bond.

Last Wednesday, Beemer allegedly made a bomb threat at a Community First Credit Union branch via a phone call. As a precaution, CFFCU evacuated employees from their branches and remained closed for the rest of the day.

While police were investigating the bomb threat at the credit union, Beemer allegedly called in a second bomb threat at Tri County High School, which was placed on lock-down.

Police, aided by a K9 team, conducted a precautionary sweep of the building. No explosive devices were found, and authorities later determined the threat was also not credible.
