A former longtime board chair of a Kansas credit union is expected to appear in court in October for an alleged sexual battery charge, according to the Shawnee County District Attorney in Topeka.
Daniel Gene Ramsey, 65, who has served as board chair for the $647 million Envista Federal Credit Union in Topeka, since at least June 2012, resigned from his post after his arrest on Sept. 18 when he was released from jail on a $2,500 cash bond, according to court filings.
A criminal complaint alleged that in March, he unlawfully touched a person “with the intent to arouse or satisfy the sexual desires of the offender or another.” The 56-year-old victim is identified in court filings only as M.P.

The criminal complaint listed 10 individuals who may be called to testify regarding the alleged incident, which is a misdemeanor.
“In light of recent reports, we confirm that Daniel Ramsey, former Chairman of the Board, has stepped down from his voluntary position and is no longer connected to Envista Federal Credit Union,” the credit union said in a statement on Friday. “We remain dedicated to upholding the trust of our members, supporting our employees and strengthening the communities we serve.”
Regulatory filings with the NCUA showed Ramsey had held the chair position since June 2012.
He retired about four months ago as a field service engineer for Lutz, Fla.-based Mettler Toledo Product Inspections where he worked for 20 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Ramsey did not respond to a CU Times request for comment on Monday. Online court filings did not list an attorney for Ramsey.
