TruStage celebrated its 90th anniversary Wednesday with 900 employees at its Madison, Wis.-based campus and the credit union that helped start it all.
The employee forum featured Rick Hanson, president/CEO of the $79 million PosTel Family Credit Union in Wichita Falls, Texas, which in 1935 sold TruStage’s, known then as Credit Union National Association Mutual Society, very first insurance policy. PosTel Family was chartered in 1929 to serve postal employees and their families. Currently, its 26 employees operate a branch and serve 5,732 members throughout Archer, Baylor, Clay, Wichita and Wilbarger counties.
To show appreciation for the credit union’s continued support, TruStage presented PosTel with a monetary contribution, along with a second donation to support a cause that reflects the credit union’s mission.
“This milestone is a reflection of our strong partnership with credit unions across the country and the shared ‘people helping people’ philosophy we were founded upon,” TruStage President/CEO Terrance Williams said. “We’re honored to have served this industry for 90 years and excited about the future we’re building together with our partners.”
The 90th anniversary celebration highlighted the TruStage legacy of innovation, its deep roots in the cooperative movement, and its forward-looking vision for financial security and inclusion.
From its humble origins in 1935 when credit union pioneer Edward A. Filene provided a $25,000 loan to create the insurance company, TruStage today manages $37.3 billion in assets, maintains relationships with 93% of the nation’s credit unions and its insurance products protect 39 million consumers.
