The California Credit Union League has unveiled a new name and brand identity, reintroducing itself as California’s Credit Unions to better reflect its mission and the 245 member institutions it represents across the state. Together, these credit unions serve more than 14.2 million Californians.

Founded in 1933 with just 25 credit union members, the organization has grown into a leading voice for financial cooperatives, navigating economic change, legislative challenges and industry evolution while advocating for consumer-focused banking.

“Our new name, California’s Credit Unions, is the fullest expression of who we are and the role we hold in the lives of Californians,” President/CEO Scott Simpson said. “It represents the confidence built over 91 years of progress and a clear vision for the future, one where, together with our credit unions, we lead the way toward a more connected and resilient California.”

The refreshed identity retains the group’s familiar “C-sun” symbol, updated with a brighter, more open design and modern color palette to reflect optimism and forward momentum.

California’s Credit Unions emphasized its commitment to advocacy in Sacramento, Washington, D.C., and beyond, ensuring access to financial strength and stability for all Californians.

“When credit unions thrive, California thrives,” Simpson added. “This is more than a name change, it’s a renewed promise to serve with purpose, innovation and impact.”

Headquartered in Ontario, the trade group continues its mission to protect, promote and advance the credit union movement throughout the state.

Recently, Simpson was named to succeed Jim Nussle as the next leader of America's Credit Unions. He will begin the new position in November.
