Carrie Hunt Credit/America's Credit Unions

America’s Credit Unions confirmed Thursday that Chief Advocacy Officer Carrie Hunt has resigned from her position.

In a statement, a spokesperson said, “We can confirm that Carrie Hunt has resigned from her role as Chief Advocacy Officer at America’s Credit Unions. We appreciate her contributions during her time here and wish her well. Led by our CEO Jim Nussle, our advocacy team remains highly experienced, deeply engaged, and fully committed to advancing credit union priorities at every level of government. Supported by our League partners and industry allies, America’s Credit Unions’ advocacy strength will remain as strong and effective as ever.”

Hunt brought more than 20 years of experience in financial services law, credit union regulation and association lobbying, and previously served as president/CEO of the Virginia Credit Union League. In her advocacy role, she led strategy efforts focused on elevating credit union priorities across the federal and state policy landscape.

During her tenure at America’s Credit Unions, Hunt was one of the public faces and driving forces behind industry-wide campaigns, including protecting the credit union tax status and articulating the movement’s distinct value proposition.

Under Hunt’s leadership, the organization maintained a steadfast presence in Washington, D.C., aligning policy outreach with industry needs.

Hunt was brought into America's Credit Unions by Nussle as it was formed from the merger of CUNA and NAFCU. America's Credit Unions is going through a leadership transition with Nussle stepping down this fall. Scott Simpson, the leader of California's Credit Unions, Nevada's Credit Unions (formerly the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues) and Utah's Credit Unions (formerly the Utah Credit Union Association), has been selected to take over the top spot at the trade group in November.
