America's Credit Unions sign at GAC 2024.

America’s Credit Unions announced Tuesday that Scott Simpson will become its next president/CEO, effective Nov. 3, 2025, succeeding longtime leader Jim Nussle.

Simpson, currently president/CEO of the California Credit Union League, Nevada’s Credit Unions and Utah’s Credit Unions, has more than two decades of experience in credit union advocacy, public policy and organizational strategy. He is known for creating a unique multi-state partnership model that bolstered collaboration while preserving strong state-level leadership.

“Scott brings a powerful blend of state and national advocacy experience, a strategic mindset and a deep belief in the credit union mission,” Patrick Pierce, chair of the America’s Credit Unions Board of Directors, said. “His leadership is exactly what our movement needs as we look to the future.”

The Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) also issued a statement welcoming Simpson to his new role.

“On behalf of DCUC and its board of directors, we want to congratulate Scott Simpson on his selection to be the next President and CEO of America’s Credit Unions,” the statement said. “It will take a steady hand to guide and collaborate across the enterprise. There are many critical issues facing credit unions and their ability to serve their members and communities. These issues will have secondary effects on our system and business partners as well. DCUC will continue to offer our assistance in strengthening the collaborative spirit across our industry. We look forward to building on the broad support of our members and partners to further our shared ideals and sustain the industry’s success.”

In his new role, Simpson will be based in Washington, D.C., where he will lead advocacy efforts, protect the industry’s tax status, enhance member engagement, and expand products and events.

“I’m honored to join America’s Credit Unions at such a pivotal moment,” Simpson said. “Credit unions have always been about people helping people. I look forward to championing that mission and working with our members to grow our impact, protect our interests and strengthen communities nationwide.”

Nussle, who has led America’s Credit Unions since its 2024 formation through the merger of CUNA and NAFCU, will remain in his role until October. The CEO search, conducted with Korn Ferry, evaluated more than 100 candidates and incorporated feedback from leagues, credit unions, employees and industry partners to identify the most qualified leader for the position.
