Brandon Michaels resigned in June as president/CEO of the $3.6 billion OneAZ Credit Union in Phoenix, after serving just two years.
The credit union’s board of directors appointed CFO Michael Boden as interim CEO on June 24.
“Brandon had been with the credit union since May 2023 following the retirement of our previous CEO. During his tenure he led a rebrand initiative and many technology driven initiatives,” OneAZ said on Friday. “We wish him well as he moves onward in his professional journey and we are grateful for the impact he’s made.”
Michaels did not respond to a CU Times request for comment.
The credit union said Boden is a thoughtful, steady and purpose-driven leader with deep operational expertise and a strong collaborative spirit.
“Our team is confident that he is the right person to guide OneAZ through this next chapter,” the credit union said.
Boden said the future at OneAZ is bright.

“As interim CEO, I am committed to building a values-based organization rooted in service to our membership, associates and community,” Boden said. “The team we’re building here is focused on clearing the way for Arizona’s dreamers and doers and we are well positioned to be the go-to financial partner for Arizonans, growing our digital and branch presence. Our goal is to deliver exceptional service and inspire Arizonans to dream big.”
The credit union has not launched a search for a new CEO.
“As we focus on the future, OneAZ remains deeply committed to providing exceptional member experience and uplifting the communities we serve,” the credit union said. “With our strong leadership team and dedicated associates, we are well-positioned to create enduring change in the lives of our members."
OneAZ is the second largest financial cooperative in the Grand Canyon State. The credit union’s 522 employees run 23 locations.
