The NCUA said Tuesday it granted a federal charter and share insurance fund coverage for Everest Federal Credit Union in Jackson Heights, N.Y.
Everest FCU will provide financial products and services to approximately 15,000 members of the Non Resident Nepalis National Coordination Council of USA. The president/CEO of the industry's newest credit union is Raj Biraj Rijal.
The Nepalis organization is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit that posted $491,221 in contributions and grants, according to its 2017 IRS 990 filing. The non-profit preserves the cultural heritage of the Nepalese community and advocates for the welfare and rights of its members.
The credit union's charter became effective Aug. 24.
