ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Kristen Christian, founder of Bank Transfer Day, will address credit union payment executives attending the Card Services for Credit Unions Annual Conference today.

CSCU is the association of credit unions that use the payment processing services offered by FIS.

Christian is a Los Angeles art dealer whose Facebook posting calling for a Bank Transfer Day on Nov. 5 led to a national movement that she continues to advocate.

CUNA estimated that in the run up to Bank Transfer Day and that day itself, more than 440,000 Americans shifted their financial relationships from banks to credit unions, CSCU recounted.

"CSCU is proud to bring in Kristen to speak at GAC and our annual conference. Her story is truly inspiring and demonstrates exceptional leadership and motivation on how credit unions can grow their membership," said Robert Hackney, CSCU president.

The association reported that 321 credit union payment executives from 131 different credit unions are attending the four-day meeting this week in St. Petersburg.
