Hearts and hands were put to use by employees and their family member of the $2.9 million SACU in San Antonio as they knitted and crocheted scarves for athletes competing in 2012 Special Olympics events. About 30 people participated, using the color scheme and other criteria outlined by the national organization. “We are part of the Special Olympics Texas contingent,” staffer Maureen Schneiderheinz said. “Texas has a goal of making around 3,000 scarves, and our team has created almost 80.”
