One of the highlights of National Small Business Week was the top lenders named by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The agency recognized the $449 million Centris Federal Credit Union, three banks, two certified development companies and two small business investment companies during an awards ceremony Friday in Washington as part of National Small Business Week.
Centris FCU in Omaha, Neb. was named the Community/Rural Lender of the Year.
"As a community lender, Centris also has had a significant impact on underserved markets in its area, as the number of loans approved for this segment increased by 83% from 2009 to 2010 and the gross dollar amount approved increased by 230.29%," the SBA said.
The Large 7(a) Loan Lender of the Year Award went to Wells Fargo of Minneapolis. The Small 7(a) Lender of the Year Award winner was Peoples Bank of Mendenhall, Miss.
The SBICs recognized were Main Street Capital of Houston and Diamond State Ventures of Little Rock, Ark. The SBA this year again recognized SunTrust Bank in Atlanta with its Export Lender of the Year Award.
The CDCs receiving awards were Ohio Statewide Development Corp. of Columbus, Ohio, and Clay/Platte Development Corp. of Kansas City, Mo.
