The South Carolina Credit Union League has narrowed the field of potential CEOs to three candidates and is optimistic about making a decision next week, its leadership reported this week.

The league board is slated to review the finalists during meetings starting Monday in Columbia.

Because of winter storms two weeks ago, one of the candidates got stuck in the travel snarl, unable to make it to Columbia, noted Scott Woods, chairman of the league and president/CEO of South Carolina FCU of North Charleston.

The CEO chosen will succeed Garry Parks, who had announced his retirement in August, staying on the job until yearend. Heading up day-to-day operations since then as interim CEO has been Steve Fowler, executive vice president of advocacy.

Last September the league board hired O'Rourke, Mitchell & Associates of San Francisco to assist in the search.
