New details were spelled out today on expansion of the Invest in America program to include discounts and financing benefits on RVs under an agreement set to start Sept. 1 with Thor Industries, the nation's largest producer of the vehicles.

Under the pact, between CUCorp., the marketing subsidiary of the Michigan Credit Union League and Thor, members of participating CUs can receive up to $300-$1,000 in discounts when purchasing the vehicles through dealers.

David Adams, president/CEO of CUCorp and the Michigan League, said the "demographics of RV buyers" fits well into the CU mix as it brings loan business, but more importantly demonstrates the industry's push to help struggling sectors of the economy.

RV purchases are already expected to climb nearly 25% next year as the economy improves, Thor executives forecasted in a conference call with reporters sponsored by Thor and the Michigan League.

Adams also said CUCorp. is looking to repeat the successful discount partnership deals it has with General Motors, Chrysler and Ford and now Thor with other "Fortune 500 companies." Adams declined to comment further stating discussions "are sensitive."
