The Wisconsin Credit Union League is entering the next phase of a statewide investment education project and recruiting credit unions interested in participating.
The 18-month REAL Progress and Pathways to Prosperity project aims to provide online investment education training to 4,000 credit union employees in Wisconsin. Some of the areas to be tested include knowledge of 401(k) plans, housing costs and paying for a child's college education. A pre- and post-test will determine if the employees were able to take away practical and applicable knowledge.
The project will be coordinated by the league, the University of Wisconsin, Gov. Jim Doyle's Council on Financial Literacy and the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions. Investor Protection Trust, a nonprofit organization devoted to investor education, provided a $200,000 grant for the training.
Wisconsin credit unions interested in participating have until the end of July to sign on. The league will host a Webinar on the investment education project on June 23. For more details, log on to www.theleague.coop and click on the RP3 link under the initiatives section.
