WASHINGTON — By raising $213,297.21, the Iowa Credit Union League's state political action committee has broken its previous fundraising record.
“Iowa credit unions and their members understand that a strong political action committee helps our efforts to elect policymakers that understand and support credit unions,” said Justin Hupfer, Vice President of Government Affairs for the Iowa Credit Union League. “This is another example of credit unions working cooperatively to achieve their goals. It is particularly impressive since all our fundraising must come from individual contributions, as Iowa law doesn't permit corporate contributions to PACs.”
The PAC, known as Credit Union Political Action Committee, contributes money to state legislative and statewide candidates of both parties.
In 2007, the PAC raised $179,296.79 and in 2006 the PAC raised $147,953.
