SAN DIEGO — As part of a tech innovation theme, the National Association of Federal Credit Unions said Thursday it will be introducing a first-time member blog at its big San Diego conference opening here next week with an expected attendance of 2,000.

"We expect to debut the conference blog on Tuesday and we also will be hosting for the first time a cutting-edge green building technologies and products exhibit applicable to credit union facilities," said a spokeswoman.

Despite soaring travel costs and the crimp in CU budgets, the turnout has held up OK, said the spokeswoman noting the attendance at this year's conference, July 8-12 at the convention center "is close to last year and we have more exhibits."

The NAFCU meeting, she noted, has long been the industry's largest attended event.

"With over 40 break-out sessions and more than 200 exhibitors , fresh ideas will abound to help credit union professionals identify growth opportunities and leverage their potential." Said Fred Becker, president/CEO.
