MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Mechanicsburg Middle School students and AmeriChoice Federal Credit Union have joined forces to honor World War II veterans in the South Central Pennsylvania area with the Honor Bus, an expansion of the Honor Flights Network that flew 137 WWII veterans to Washington, D.C.

The Honor Bus, consisting of chartered deluxe coaches, will transport veterans to visit their memorial along with Mechanicsburg Middle School students to experience the tribute with them.

The event kicks off with a dignitary address by Representative Todd Platts (R-Pa.). Former Senator Bob Dole (R-N.C.) will greet the participants of the Honor Bus at the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C., followed by a wreath ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns.

A celebration dinner at the Naval Officers Club will include State Senator Pat Vance (R-31), State Representative Jerry Nailor (R-88) and featured speaker local author-historian Lt. Col. John Ent.

All AmeriChoice branches have been busy collecting donations to send every South Central Pennsylvania WWII Veteran on the Honor Bus.
