RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. — CUDL, the CUSO that administers the nation's largest point-of-sale and indirect auto lending network for credit unions, announced that it will represent its more than 600 credit unions at the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Convention for the fifth consecutive year.
The NADA convention, which takes place February 9 through February 12, 2008 in San Francisco, is the largest event for automobile dealers in the U.S., averaging over 25,000 attendees each year and drawing attendance from approximately one third of all U.S. dealerships. Adding to the draw of the convention, the National Automobile Dealers Association reports that they represent approximately 20,000 franchised new car and truck dealers holding nearly 43,000 separate franchises, domestic and international.
CUDL's purpose is to create a united presence at the convention and increase dealers' awareness of the market place power credit unions possess. Representatives from 27 credit unions joined with CUDL at the 2007 NADA convention to help further grow relationships with dealers, by conveying the importance and viability of partnerships between credit unions and dealers.
By representing their credit union partners at the conference over the last four years, CUDL has helped to advance auto industry leaders' understanding of the importance credit unions have in helping dealers sell and finance cars, said the CUSO. Over 2,500 attendees visited the CUDL Credit Unions' booth during last year's NADA event.
"There is no other venue quite like the NADA Convention to provide credit unions a chance to interact with dealer principals from their market areas," said Dave Reynolds, CEO of San Antonio, Texas-based Security Service Federal Credit Union. "This interaction, over time, has helped increase dealer understanding as well as cement dealer relationships and participation in our program."
In addition to the benefits garnered by presenting their cooperative and network strength, credit unions that participate at NADA also gain from the networking opportunities with key industry decision makers and the chance to further develop significant relationships with top national and local dealers.
Credit union representatives attending the convention may attend breakout sessions and workshops that will be offered to help them better understand and work with the automobile industry.
"CUDL's presence, along with our credit union partners, at the NADA Conference over the last four years has helped to significantly increase industry awareness of the benefits of partnering with credit unions," said CUDL's President and CEO Tony Boutelle. "Our continued goal at NADA is to build upon that awareness and strengthen the growing relationship between credit unions and dealers."
