TREVOSE, Pa. — TruMark Financial Credit Union has recently celebrated the opening of the first student-operated credit union branch in Montgomery County at the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.

Pennsylvania Secretary of Banking Steven Kaplan, Pennsylvania Office of Education Financial Education Specialist Mary C. Rosenkrans, and Colonial School District Superintendent Dr. Vincent F. Cotter joined TruMark staffers to mark the milestone

The student branch is an extension of TruMark Financial's financial literacy program, which aims to help students learn vital life skills related to financial matters and career preparation.

"I am confident that the operation of the TruMark Financial Student Branch in Plymouth Whitemarsh High School will strengthen the bridge that we aim to build between high school experiences and post-secondary success in the real world. We are thrilled to provide this unique opportunity to our students," said Dr. Monica Sullivan, principal of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.

The in-school branch, located within the halls of the high school, provides financial services and educates students regarding financial responsibility. The student tellers operate the in-school branch under the supervision of a TruMark Financial employee and receive hands on experience in a financial setting. Students can deposit money, cash a check, make a withdrawal, and even have direct deposit to their credit union account.
