LAS VEGAS — The ACUMA booth at the National Association of Realtors Expo was crowded by visiting realtors interested in doing mortgage business with America's credit unions. ACUMA has been an exhibitor at the NAR for several years, with costs paid for with additional sponsorship dollars from individual CUs and mortgage-related CUSOs.
"The response this year shows that all our efforts have had a positive net result," said ACUMA President Bob Dorsa. "We've generated over one thousand leads and now, we're able to follow up so that credit unions that are serious about mortgage lending can work with these interested realtors and brokers. This is one surefire way to boost the credit union mortgage share of the market."
The fact that the NAR membership approved the formation of its own credit union only adds to the awareness of the CU option in home lending added Dorsa. ACUMA also presented a panel breakout session on credit unions with Bill Tessier of Navy FCU, Shannon VanSickler of Bellco CU, Joe Brancucci of BECU and Chris Pauling of Prudential Northwest Realty, and will feature an edited video combined with testimonials from booth visitors on the ACUMA Web site.
"ACUMA has become the source of information for the growth of CU mortgage lending because our members are dedicated to making first home mortgages. We now want to be a source for realtors seeking to expand their business with credit unions as well," said Dorsa.
