WASHINGTON — Credit Union Miracle Day, Inc., which sponsors the annual Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run in Washington, D.C., presented awards recently to participants for their speed and spirit.

The 2007 Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run Organizational Donation Challenge award was presented to Department of Labor Federal Credit Union President/CEO Joan Moran on Aug. 27 at the credit union's Washington, D.C. office. The credit union raised money through its skip-a-pay program, which amounted to 73 cents per member.

Most Spirited Volunteer Team award was presented to NIH Federal Credit Union by leaders of Credit Union Miracle Day, Inc., on Aug. 28. Seventeen "Healthy Not Wealthy" volunteers, stationed near the Watergate, cheered runners on and served water and Gatorade. Credit union sponsors had over 500 volunteers helping on race day.

Also among the award recipients, Fairfax City Federal Credit Union raised the most money for the Member Donation Challenge by selling raffle tickets for a Valentines Day basket.

The coveted Credit Union Cup, awarded to the credit union running team with the best time, was presented to Bank-Fund Staff Federal Credit Union.

Credit Union Miracle Day, Inc. is a partnership of 83 credit unions and 40 affiliated organizations. Not only is it a world-class running event, it is a major fundraiser with $828,000 raised in 2007 to benefit children's hospitals located across the country affiliated with the Children's Miracle Network.
