BOISE, Idaho — Three credit union leagues are putting their credit union knowledge to the test.

In a joint effort, the Idaho Credit Union League, Montana Credit Union Network and the Credit Union Association of Oregon have produced the “Credit Union Philosophy Certification Manual”, which contains information on everything from why CUs should be exempt from CRA rules to an overview of business lending powers. Credit unions can use the manual to help increase the credit union IQ of their employees, volunteers and even executives.

“So far we've had 600 in Idaho take the test after they obtained the manual either off the Internet or had it mailed to them,” said LaRaye O'Brien, communications specialist for the Idaho Credit Union League.

The completed 15-quesiton tests are returned to league offices where they are graded. “You can miss one question and still pass,” noted O'Brien, adding that no one knows, but the graders how well the employee did.
