WASHINGTON–The Government Accountability Office is hosting an all-day forum today on the potential consolidation of the financial services regulators, among other things.
The forum was "in response to a mandate from Congress," a GAO spokesperson said, that came out of the Financial Services Regulatory Relief Act. The event, being held at the GAO's Northwest Washington headquarters, is not open to the press.
NCUA is participating in the event but declined to comment at this point. NAFCU has also said it has a representative there.
GAO will be issuing a report, according to the spokesperson who was not aware of a deadline.
