BETHPAGE, N. Y. — The $2.4 billion Bethpage Federal Credit Union is launching its first card after having sold its card portfolio to the CU Card Association, the card portfolio purchasing subsidiary of the $3.8 billion Wescom Credit Union earlier this year.
The new card will be a theme card tied to the credit union's aeronautic history and its annual sponsorship of a Memorial Day weekend air show. Bethpage began its life as the Grumman Aerospace Employee Credit Union in 1941.
In addition to the air show, the CU is holding a gala for local VIPs and air show participants at Mitchel Field, which is known locally as the Cradle of Aviation, and will host Erik Lindbergh, grandson of Charles Lindbergh. This month is the 80th anniversary of Charles Lindbergh's solo flight across the Atlantic, the CU noted.
