ITHACA, N.Y. — The $51 million Alternatives Federal Credit Union wants people to come to a celebratory dinner and roast for Bill Myers, its retiring CEO.

The CU has also announced plans to launch a youth internship program in Myers' name and started a blog where friends and supporters can leave memories of Myers' time at the CU.

The celebration and roast will take place on June 14 in Ithaca and the CU has reserved a block of rooms spread across two area hotels to accommodate well-wishers who may travel from outside the area for the event.

The Bill Myers Youth Internship will support youth "committed to working on issues of economic and social justice," the CU said, adding: "Our ambition is to ignite the community development spark in the bright leaders of tomorrow." In addition to money from the credit union, board members also made individual contributions to the internship effort.

Information about the celebration, the internship and access to the Weblog can be found at the CU's Web site (www.alternatives.org).
