ARLINGTON, Va. — NAFCU closed its request for board nominations last week with three incumbents being re-elected and one race taking place for the Region II seat.
Members 1st FCU (Pa.) President/CEO Bob Marquette and SRP FCU (S.C.) President/CEO Ed Templeton will retain their seats as they had no opposition. NAFCU Director of Planning, Programming, and Special Events Joe Boyle explained that no candidates obtained the five or more votes necessary to make it on the official ballot "by petition"; Marquette and Templeton were selected by NAFCU's nominating committee as "slated" candidates.
Additionally, in Region V, Nevada FCU President/CEO Brad Beal was elected to a third term. Historically, incumbents do not typically have challengers, Boyle said.
NAFCU's Region II seat, currently held by Aberdeen Proving Ground FCU Chairman Dave Gilbert, is up for grabs between Mid-Atlantic FCU (Md.) President/CEO Charles Thomas and Pentagon FCU Vice Chair Robert Scott. Gilbert has served the maximum three, three-year terms. No other volunteers expressed an interest in running, according to Boyle.
An official ballot will be mailed to Region II NAFCU members in mid-April, which is due back to NAFCU by May 24. New directors will officially take office at the Annual Business Meeting July 20 held in conjunction with NAFCU's 40th Annual Conference and Exhibition to take place in Honolulu this year.
