MANCHESTER, N.H. — In 2006, a credit union crashed the party for the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority Top 10 lenders. St. Mary's Bank credit union rated sixth among 49 individual lenders that provide individual housing loans through the authority.
Rankings are based on the number of loans that a lender has provided to first-time homebuyers over the course of the year. St. Mary's Bank was ranked 11th in 2005.
The move up from 11th to sixth place "represents a lot of very hard work," said Barbara Cunningham, vice president for mortgage services at St. Mary's, "It's the kind of work we remain very committed to because providing affordable loans to first-time buyers has always been an important part of our mission at St. Mary's."
The $600 million credit union will be among those honored Feb. 21 at an annual banquet sponsored by the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority.
Along with the banquet honors, the Top 10 lenders will receive a report card from the Authority, which offers ideas on how they can be even more effective. They will be allowed the opportunity to offer input to the Authority as to how the overall borrowing process can be improved for first-time buyers.
