McPheters, California Coast CU President, New CCUL Chairman

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – James McPheters, president/CEO, California Coast CU, San Diego, is the new chairman of the California Credit Union League. McPheters was elected chairman during the League's recent Annual Meeting and Convention. McPheters came to California Coast CU as president/CEO in 1986 when it was known as San Diego Teachers' CU. Before that, he was chief operating officer for a credit union in San Diego for three years and an 11-year NCUA veteran. He is a member of the League Assembly of Delegates and sits on its committees for bylaws, fiscal affairs and government relations. He also chaired the League Audit Committee from 1991-1998, chaired a government relations subcommittee, and served on the Department of Financial Institutions credit union advisory committee. From 2003-2004, McPheters also chaired the Credit Union Alliance, a cooperative advertising and public relations council for credit unions in San Diego County.
