WASHINGTON-CUNA is moving its Future Forum to summertime to be more family-friendly and coordinate better with credit union business cycles. CUNA has scheduled its 2006 Future Forum for June 11-14 at the J.W. Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes. Traditionally, it had been held in September or October. CUNA President and CEO Dan Mica explained that the change made sense for a couple of reasons. Based on input from credit unions, the June date works better for the credit union business year since it is earlier in the budget cycle. Secondly, the change makes it easier to bring their families with them. "For several years now, credit union representatives have urged us to change the date so that more of their family members could join them in the outstanding locations of the Future Forum," Mica said. "This year, with the event being held in Orlando - the home of so many fine family-oriented venues - we felt that the time was right to make a change." The CUNA Annual General Meeting will no longer be associated with the Future Forum. It will be held separately, at a date and time to be announced later this fall. The decision to change the Future Forum date to June was made in September and announced to Future Forum participants at the meeting in San Francisco in the "Daily News Tuesday" distributed at the conference. The decision on when and where to hold the AGM were made more recently.
